In a joint press conference given in Addis Abeba , Ethiopia’s FM, Dr. Tewodros Adhanom and his Egyptian counterpart Mohamed Amr agreed to calm down their “war of words” and start discussions on the recent findings of the experts of Nile Dam Environmental Assessment Report.
“We have two options, either to swim or sink together” Tewodros said. Both sides also agreed to involve the Sudan in the consultations.
The presser did not reveal if Ethiopia was going to cease the construction of the Dam until both sides reach an agreement.
It is to be recalled that the United Nations called the two nations to solve their problems through discussions. “The UN chief spoke with both leaders about the proposed Dam project on the Nile River and expressed his desire that they engage in dialogue to resolve differences on that matter,” Ban Ki-Moon’s spokesman Martin Nesirky said last week.
